Horace Crenshaw:
Horace Crenshaw is a local Artist who taught himself to paint.
While he currently lives in Capitol Heights Maryland, he grew up
in the Detroit area. Crenshaw's work is characterized by his
ability to render exactly what he sees, a gift for rarely
wandering outside the lines. Crenshaw, a naturally gifted artist,
can capture current form a present it accurately. According to
one of his instructors, "resemblance, he could do quite well".
He also has the uncanny ability to pick up on subtle variations
of light and shadowing.
After his 1968 high school graduation, Horace married and moved
to New York, then to California and then Georgia. Crenshaw
studied fine arts at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where
he honed his craft. Crenshaw, whose painting medium is acrylics,
is a confident artist who at times will paint subjects before
the subjects requests the rendering. In more cases than not, the
subjects usually end up purchasing the paintings from Crenshaw.
This fact attest to his extraordinary talent as both an artist,
relentless salesperson and promoter of his art. Horace has done
work for many of the NBA players (which includes all of the
Washington Wizards), NFL players and local politicians such as
Congressman John Conyers.
